To access the data set The first workshop session will be reserved for the comparison of scientific methods presented using the same data set. NUWC and WHOI provided this data set. Data set (Contains sounds from Blainville’s beaked whale, Short-finned pilot whale, and Risso’s dolphin) Data Description The analysis data consists of both training and test data. Training data sets include a minimum of 5 cuts for each of the following species: 1. Mesoplodon densirostris (Blainville’s beaked whale) 2. Grampus griseus (Risso’s dolphin) 3. Globicephala macrorhynchus (Short finned pilot whale) The training cuts are each from 1 to 3 minutes long (16-51 MB) and give the researcher the opportunity to view vocalizations in context. Measurements such as inter-click interval can be obtained if desired. There are 9 test data wavefiles, each approximately 10 minutes long (168-203 MB). The test data fall into one of the following three categories: 1. No signals of interest present. 2. High SNR signal sets for the 3 species of interest (note: some are likely to contain multiple individuals). 3. Mixed species cuts. The data can be downloaded from the link above. |
